The End of the Year in Second Class!

2016/2017 has been a great year here in room 5. We have made our First Holy Communion and Reconciliation and made lots of memories along the way. Look at our photos to see some of the fun activities we have done in the past few days.

Chess-Miss Cleary came in on Tuesday and taught us how to play chess. It was a lot of fun!

Teach the Teacher Day-We turned the tables this week. The students became the teachers and the teacher became a student. We made up our own lessons to teach to the class…..and to Miss Doyle! We learned how to make paper aeroplanes, how to draw a dolphin, watched an experiment and lots of other things!

Fraction Fun!

A super busy week in Room 5!!

We are revising fractions this week. To help us to find halves and quarters of numbers up to twenty we played some games…..

We have also studied the artwork of Leonardo Da Vinci, especially one of his most famous paintings-the Mona Lisa! We took inspiration from this and painted our own Mona Lisa pictures….

We are also learning a new song, writing reports and practising our four times tables by listening to funny songs and singing along. We learned to play Zone Ball in P.E and had great fun cheering for our friends as they tried to score points!

Happy Easter Everyone!

This week the boys and girls in second class made Easter bonnets. They used paper plates, card, paper, cotton wool and lots of other materials to make some fantastic hats! Look at the photos below to see our Easter-inspired creations!

Static Electricity

Recently in room 5 we learned all about electricity and we had fun carrying out some experiments involving static electricity.

First we used our jumpers and hair to ‘charge up’ some balloons and it was very funny to see some people’s hair sticking to the balloon!

Then we used static electricity to try to pick up some rice krispies with balloons-it was messy but fun!

Now we just have to find a use for all the left over balloons in our classroom…….
