Hi All . I hope ye are all keeping well. As ye know , unfortunately, we will have no school until September .I will be uploading one week’s work at a time for the remainder of the term. Try your best with all work and don’t be stressed if having any issues, we will catch up on anything that needs addressing when it is safe to do so. There is no pressure to get all work completed, just keep yourselves and your minds active as much as possible, make sure to keep on top of reading, spellings, tables and mental maths. Do your best and have fun. Take this time to learn new skills at home like helping around the house or in the garden, see how many books you can get read, how many interesting facts you can learn about various topics, improve your fitness, but most importantly above all else stay safe and enjoy some quality time with your family.

Reading – 20 minutes reading each day of a book of your choice from home. If you haven’t a library book or your own book to read at home you can find some great books to read on the app ‘BorrowBox Library’.
Ms Cleary’s reading group continue to record daily reading.
Spellings: Next two pages of Spelling Workbook. Learn spellings over the week, put words in sentences and complete activities.
Gaeilge: Continue with daily diary [3 to 5 simple sentences on weather news etc.

Mental Maths – Continue with the next week of Mental Maths including Problem Solving and Friday Review.
Tables – Practise your ‘mixed tables’ for 5 minutes each day on https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button (Hit the Button) and try beat your score. Record your highest score for when we are back to see who the champion is!

Remember to find the perimeter of a shape we add up all sides.
To find the Area of a rectangle multiply length by width.

– Pg. 124 Qs.1 & 2 ( Remember if it’s an irregular shape we need to break the shape up into 2 or 3 shapes and find area separately)
– Pg.126 Qs 1-15, set 20 minute timer and see how many you can get done in that time. Remember with our problems read the question properly to yourself and see what the question is really looking for, be patient 
History:
**Small World History – Read Unit on THE GREAT FAMINE pg.76 to 78 a few times and discuss with parent/guardian .

Geography:
**Small World Geography Read Unit on WEATHER , CLIMATE AND ATMOSPHERE pg.84 a few times and discuss at home .

Art and Projects
Try some of these
-Design a soccer GAA or camogie jersey or a t-shirt for your favourite tv show or video game.
-You can also do projects on topics of your choice. ( people, places, hobbies, art , etc) I would love to see any projects you do. Pictures can be sent to me on my school email provided.
-This is a link to The Great Isolation Activity Book. There are some nice activities to do with your family . You may be able to print it or just use ideas from the booklet too and put your own stamp on it. Enjoy !!!!

• hurling/ football / soccer skills ( how many roll lifts in 30 secs / how many keepy uppies can you do in 30 secs etc (Check out Hurling 365/Peile 4 all online for weekly challenges)
• How many basketball dribbles in 30 secs
• Jog on the spot 30secs next day 60 secs etc

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 12pm Kilkenny hurler TJ Reid does a brilliant online PE class live on his TJ Reid Health and Fitness Facebook page.
Music
Revise the new tunes from the past few weeks and any tunes from the past year. See if you can get some off by heart. Keep up the great practice! Send your recordings via email . I’d love to hear how ye are getting on!

For pupils who attend Ms. Murphy’s Class:

1) Read for 15 minutes per day at their own level no more than 3 difficult words per page ! Pick out two words and record them because they are difficult or interesting ! Ask somebody to ask questions based on what you have read to ensure understanding !

2) Tables 2 and 4 multiplication and practice them on https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/ hit the button

3) Tables test every week asking at least 20 sums .

4) More rapid testing of multiplication tables using website https:// arithmetic.zetamac.com ! Change multiplication range 2-12 multiply by 2-12.

5) Children need to make connections with maths and real life ! Mental Maths is an ideal time to help kids find tricks and easier little ways to complete their Maths ! If it a money question for example get out the money , draw it ! Help then to figure it out . Don’t worry if they get stuck we will be there to go over it all when we get back to work !
