World Book Day 2019

It was a very unusual day today in Junior Infants. When teacher went out to the yard to collect the children they were nowhere to be seen…instead she found lots of book characters standing in the line!

There were dinosaurs, superheroes and princesses. Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland and Dorothy also made an appearance along with lots more characters!

World Book Day

World Book Day 2018 takes place on Thursday, March 1st. As part of this event we are encouraging children (and parents) to enjoy the pleasures of reading and SHARE A STORY on World Book Day… and every day. Spending just 10 minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children can make a crucial difference to their outcome and it’s fun for all involved. You can read together anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime! In the park, on the train, on the sofa, on a plane – reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time.

You can also order online. Go to to browse the latest books and order online. For every €1 you spend on this month’s Book Club, our school will earn 25¢in Scholastic Rewards.

Please place your order online by February 28th, 2018.

The children also received their World Book Day Tokens. The tokens can be used with the Book Club Order. Just deduct €1.50 from the total cost and send the token in with the order.

Alternatively, when you get your book token, all you need to do is to take it to your local bookseller, the Bookstation, and swap it for one of the exclusive, new and completely FREE World Book Day books.

Or, if you’d prefer, you can use your book token to get €1.50 off any full price book instead.

Then all YOU have to do is take your book home and enjoy it.

The World Book Day book tokens are valid from Monday 26 February–Sunday 25 March 2018.

World Book Day in 6th Class

We did a few activities for World Book Day on the 2nd of March. First, we had DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time.

We then had a book- themed table quiz. The winners won a Homework Pass each.

We also designed National Book Tokens as part of the World Book Day UK and Irl competition.

Here are some of our designs:
