We also had many individual winners in the October tournament. The children had no problem being at the school for 8.50am to get the bus to New Ross for seven games of chess, only returning to Gorey at 5pm. The yummy lunch, the fun with kids from other schools and the playtime added to the fun of our day out in The Brandon House Hotel.

Extra credit must be given to some of our team who have performed exceptionally well during the year. David Remenyik represented Ireland in Austria on the under 12’s chess team during the summer and also travelled to Hungary, to play chess in December. Andy and Ryan were on the first ever Novice Chess team representing Gorey Chess Club, in Dublin on Saturday, December 11th.

St. Joseph’s Chess Kings will be in action again in the New Year. The bi-annual Co. Wexford Schools’ Fun tournament will be held for the second time this school year in New Ross on Saturday January 21st. Let’s defend our current title as best over-all school in the county!
