Miss Doyle Junior Infants 2nd-5th June

Hi everyone,

I loved seeing all of your ‘Flat Stanley’ pictures last week and reading about the adventures you went on together. If you want to see what your friends have been up to look at the last post on our class page. You can also see and read about what Everywhere Bear has been doing. He is staying here with me in my house and is being a very good little bear! He loves to see all your great work!

For the next couple of weeks we will be working on English and Maths only, with some activities and games to practice our reading, writing and maths while still having fun.

Parents-As always you can email me with the children’s work or with any questions-my email address is katiedoylestjosephs@gmail.com. If you would like to send me a photo of the children’s writing or arts and crafts I will share them on the website.

Note re: School Tour-I will return any money collected for the school tour in September.

Have a great weekend everyone,

Miss Doyle

Tricky words:

  • New tricky words this week ‘go’ and ‘no’
  1. Sound out the word phonetically and point out that when we sound out the word like this it sounds funny-it is not a real word. It is a tricky word.
  2. Tell your child that in these words the letter ‘o’ is tricking us by making the /oa/ sound. Then sound out the word with the /oa/ sound.

Sentence writing:

  • Instead of dictation this week we are going to look at, talk about and write about a picture. The file below has two pages-each has a picture, sentences to trace and blank lines. The children should read the sentences (see if they can read the sentences independently), and then write their own short, simple sentence about the picture on the lines. It does not matter if they cannot spell a word correctly. If they find it too difficult to write a sentence independently you could dictate a sentence to them. If you do not have a printer you could show your child the picture on the screen and let them read the sentences then write on a piece of paper.
